There are more people who cares for you than you think. Even if they don't agree 100% with you doesn't mean they can't be talked to. Everybody can't be perfect! Do as you want, but if you want to talk to accepting and loving people, there are still people like that here.

People can be different and still wear makeup and not wearing makeup won't make you "stand out" much. It sounds more like you want hippies to be steriotypical. Shouldn't we accept them as they are?

Ok I don't like makeup and personally think it's a waste of time and is even part of the obvious double standards and inequality that women face in this world. I know this is just my opinion I wouldn't question someones hippiedom for wearing it as you seem to have and I definitely would not tell someone I'm disappointed in them for wearing it.

People may have be defensive and seemed like they were attacking you because, in a way, it seemed like you were attacking them. I'm not trying to attack you now, I’m just trying to show you that you had a part in the reaction your thread received and that people were defending themselves more than they were attacking you.
