I don't know what it is but I really love the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes!

Its the only shoes I've bought for at least the past 9 maybe 10 years but the only real problem is that they don't seem to last long (at least not to me). I buy a new pair like every 2 months it seems but thats OK!:sunglasse

Heres my current pair. There a little worn and a little dirty around the sides, I usually clean the sides with bleach and it does the trick quite well.

.....So anyway I just wanted to say that

Yes it is true that Nike bought out Converse. Which is why, even though Chucks are my favorite shoes EVER, I have not bought a new pair since I heard that. *crying cuz I really need a new pair*

You're just saying that because he's hot :p
Actually, if dirty torn up shoes tell a story, then he's got another pair that's FULL of em. They're so fukt up that the sides are all split apart and his feet were hanging out.

As for nike buying converse, we heard about that a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure if it's true. Nike's so anal about wanting to put their logo on everything you'd think that if they had indeed bought converse, there'd be a swoosh on them SOMEWHERE, even if it was just on the inside of them. But hell, what do I know?

yah man, it's true, I found that to be disgusting, they've been around so many years, there has never been a shortage of kids wearing chucks, and they sell their souls to nike, one of the worst companies you can sell your soul to. (Oh I know it sounds dumb but you know what I mean)
Anyway, to learn all about it and the adbusters way of fighting it, (Make our own shoes in a unionized shoe factory!
    jump on over to http://www.adbusters.org/metas/corpo/blackspotsneaker/
It doesn't say much about converse being bought over, I'll try to find the article I read about it, but there's a reason it looks like a lowtop chucks.
Sign up for a pair, they'll cost ballpark 40 bucks.
Here's what they have to say about their factory:
A great sneaker factory has been located. It's in the traditional shoe manufacturing region in Portugal. A big, light, airy, family-run factory will be the centre of it all. Union. Fair wages, generous paid holidays, free medical attention, an hour and a half for lunch, impressive safety record - it's an excellent production facility for our worker-friendly, earth-friendly, animal-friendly blackspot sneaker. Details and factory photos will be posted soon. September looks good for delivery. Time for some action.

    Sounds pretty good to me!

Oh, and here's the sad story straight from the horses mouth: http://www.nike.com/nikebiz/news/pressrelease.jhtml?year=2003&month=09&letter=a

I'm not surprised there's no swoosh. Nike wants to brand all it's products but it knows better than to blatantly show they have bought Chuck Taylor's. Look how many people on the forums didn't know. They know a lot of people have got beefs with them, and the regular converse customer is a bit iffier about sweatshops than the regular running shoe consumer. If that makes any sense. It does in my head. Anyway, I found some no sweat high-tops! Yay!

http://store.globalexchange.org/swsn.html and if pink's your thang, you can pre-order a pair of no sweat pink high-tops

I hope I don't sound too preachy. I have chuck taylors too. I don't condemn anybody for owning, wearing, or even buying them. I just looked over all my writing and making sure that was clear.

Very true. Sprout has managed to utterly DESTROY about 6 pair in the four years that we've been together. And I don't mean like a little tear here and there.....I mean like the entire sole comes off and is flopping around, the toes come out, the lace holes are ripped out and huge chunks of canvas (i think that's what it is) are just missing.

    I prefer my sandals.
