Your thoughts? I just saw these guys with moe. last week and they tore the roof off of the place. You had trustfunders dancin' around all over the place. heh I think the guitar work gets to wandering a little too far into the soilent green pastures of wankery, and they're as much "progressive" as they are a typical " jam band", but I think they're pretty good. They had a great Jazz-inspired 20 minute jam to close off their set, complete with crazy ass moog synthesizer solos. If I had to say so, I'd say they're as good as moe., easily. They got a great reception. They're going to be at Bonnaroo this year, again, so you should definitely go check that out if you haven't seen them before.
i'm glad you had fun! but UM's has dissapointed me every time i see them. they just don't do it for me....Moe. does kick alot of ass though!
Being as good as moe. at jamming isn't really saying too much. I mean, I love seeing moe. live, but some of their jams take forever to get anywhere.
yea umphrey's is weird for me, sometimes i dig them and sometimes i feel like they are trying to hard to do some weird prog rock frank zappa shit and it just feels foreced, or their jams don't "develop" but overall they're a good band.
