I just read on a dread site I googled, and they talk about a method involving a wool hat. You rub it around your head for like 15 minutes and do something else, and you have starting dreads. Has anyone ever heard of this? How well does it work?

ya, your supposed to rub it on your head, then rip your hair apart into sections... this method is seems a litte strange to me.. cause it really, really hurts your head because you are supposed to do it hard. i dont know if thats exactly it but its what i have read..i would honestly recommend the back coming method, or just doing it naturally if you have the time and patience. and if you job maybe doesnt require costumer serive... customers are damn touchy about things that they dont see everyday.. good luck eh

I used a wool sweater for the back of my head. It just knots up your hair, same as backcombing, just with a different method. I'd reccomend seperating your hair with rubber bands beforehand, though.

All you really have to do is put it on your head and rub in clockwise circles.. hard.. for a long time. And then.. dreads.

yes yes do it. do it everyday for a while and when it starts turning into nappy dreads let your hair sit and do its thing naturally. rub it about once a week a while after that too. it works best after you have just washed it.
