I just wanted to thank all who posted to my "Looking to start locs in Buffalo" thread - I did find someone to knot my hair up. This is the 2nd time I've gone dreadie, and I think I'm finally figuring out how to do this best (for me). I notice there are a few people on here whose locks are not tightening up as fast as they would like. Now, I have rather curly/wavy hair so after about a week since backcombing they have managed to knot up quite well. I could see these being rather tight by 2-3 months. I've found that wearing a wool beanie has helped quite a bit, as long as you can stand a little more itchiness on your scalp. I wear one just about all the time. So, if you're feeling a little bit impatient about the whole process, give that a try. Other than that I'm just letting them do their thing and palm rolling them once they get too flat again. Werd. Well I hope someone finds this useful...

    Post some pics!

Also, any tam can help your dreads tighten up I believe.

I used to put on the wool hat and rub it all over my dreads and my head. Worked a treat

it really is a great way to start your dreads. wearing it while your sleeping it good also. once they have started to form pretty well though you should lay off the rubbing and just let them sit... thats when they start looking nice :)
