Note: Im doing the natural way...
Well its been like 2 mouths i think, lost count :p... At the moment i have like 3 or 4 dreadlocks that are locking... But the rest of my is all crazy looking... Im trying to get them into dreads by palm rolling and that rip and tare method. But usually everytime, they unravel in an hour or in a couple of days...

Is this usual or is the propaganada from my parents true?

at two months, my DD had just as much loose hair as knotted locks, if not more. we're at three months now, and she only has a few places that refuse to knot up. now our problem is how messy it looks, DH is threatening to cut the dreads off... well, she does look like some sort of feral baby being raised by wolves. Give it a bit more time, that's all it takes. time. something my child has plenty of, but patience is not in my DH's constitution.

just relax. mine looked like a 80's backcombed buffant untill about 6 months in haha AND i sectioned the hair and backcombed it to start it off and it STILL unravleed. now at just over 2 years they are begining to calm themsels down.

But to behonest dreads will ALWAYS be crazy.

Maybe you should put rubber bands at the ends for a while. Mine are 6 months old now and they still aren't locked and I have a lot of loose hair also, especially at the base of my head, I guess it's from sleeping.
Hang in there. Just keep working at it. My ends are still straight and probably always will be because of how straight my hair is.

I have a favourite dread now, too. How weird. :)

if they are falling apart it could mean you have oily hair. try to dry it out with a clarifying shampoo or try wool rubbing (then tear if needed) if they are still loose put a rubberband on the end for a few weeks.
