Hello eveyone. India as been for me a dream since i was a child and now im finally building up the nerve (and the resources) to go for good. This is, i believe, my path, my quest for peace of mind and happyness. I think i could be happy in a small coastal village or in a intencional commune, i must look around... So, please help me, anyone with usefull informations, tips, advices. Many blessings to all

You should definitely check out Goa, it's on the West coast. It's a hippie haven and a paradise on earth. There are other places as well such as Kerala, Manali, Coorg and many more..look them up and tell me what you think. If you need any other info on India let me know

India is cool, though I've never been there. I hope I can travel there one day.

Only been to the north really, but was absolutely mind blowing in every way.

You definitely need to take the highest road in the world from Srinagar to Leh (Ladakh) then Leh to Manali...36 hours each way with a 8 hour break inbetween assuming you dont have problems with the bus (the petrol tank froze twice and leaked on my bus) but it's worth every second. You pass through the most amazing landscape you're ever likely to experience in your life...Basically you go winding up towering mountains upto about 4,000 metres high, below are rivers cutting through gorges. The landscape is basically a high altitude desert. The whole thing is other-worldly, like a surreal sci-fi film, the sky is a wierd shade of blue because you are so high up (literately on top of the world), for miles in every direction just a mars like landscape but with these snow capped mountains popping up occasionally jagging into the sky...
Those words go nowhere near to doing it justice.

Can't wait to do it all over again...£400 saved, 1,600 to go...

    PS
Definitely make a side trip into Nepal...spectacular country that i've fallen in love with.
