every time the Mythbusters use a pig skull or animal part of any kind, they follow up its intro with "as always they got it from the slaughter house"...whats the differnce if they went some where and killed it themselves and they bought it from a slaughter house???? this isn't an anti animal killing thread.....i just hate how people can differentiate between killing...
To some people, if it's a "left over" from a better purpose for the animal dying, then it's easier on the conscience.. Never heard of the show, but with a name like Mythbusters, they should be sneaking into slaughthouses and exposing the myth that animals are killed humanely..
You are upset about the pig heads? You've GOT to be kidding. This show is a great way to learn not only science, but to expose Urban Myths for what they are, garbage. I guess we could all just live in the Middle Ages, and not learn anything new, so we don't offend dead carcasess. And we could argue about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.... I think Mythbusters is one of the best shows on television. I thought this thread would be talking about the SCIENCE of the show. Anyway, Jamie and Adam are pretty ingenious dudes. I am pretty sure Jamie is a genius. Adam has adult ADHD, but puts it to good use. My kids have learned a lot of science from this show. We watch it, and they try to figure out whether the myths have any basis in fact or not. Most of the time they don't have any basis in fact. (Which proves that in order for people to not believe bullshit, someone needs to INVESTIGATE claims of everything said as "fact.") But, they did prove that is is possible to make a boat out of rubber coats and home made glue and actually get from Alcatrez to the mainland. My 17 year old dd just came in. She's a Veg*n. She saw this and said, "People eat meat. That isn't going to be stopped. If Mythbusters didn't occasionally use those dumb pig heads, they would just be thrown away. We aren't going to stop people from eating pork by Jamie and Adam not using them when a skull is needed for proving someting." And she is an animal freak. She grew up in a household where knowing that one needs to experiement in order to learn is important.
Science uses explosives and flamable materials. Discuss how the previous sentence relates to Mythbusters.
"Blowing shit up is an essensial part of the scientifc process. Especially if you want science to be viewable by most people, so they don't grow up ignorant. I always make sure I actually view a movie or TV show or actually read a book, before I criticize it. But, that's just me. I like to try to be scientifically accurate when it matters to be.

Because the use of animals already killed, for science, is better then finding someones pet pig and kidnapping babe for science.
mythbusters kicks ass, i watch that show more than i watch anything else... well mabey 70's show but other than that. its a great fucking show and should be recognized as such.
wo,wo,wo....you all got me wrong. this was not an attack on Mythbusters. I watch the show all the time. My post was just refering to something that is said each time they have a dead animal. I don't care that they have the dead pigs.....I just find it funny that they point out that they get their dead pigs from the slaughter house. and to Burbot, "If they get it from a slaughter house, the rest of the pig isn't wasted"......i agree, but to be technical they have had full pigs. i am sorry that the post was mis-interpreted. as i am a man of science....as before switching to a music major i was studying anthropology.....
I love Mythbusters.. I love it when Adam makes fun of Jamie and does his impresentation of him with his stache..any, mythbusters is a great show...
