Well.. i imagine everyone has a song or two that really hit them when they first heard and made them really think. So.. what was it? ;P Mine was either All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix) or Whole Lotta Love, which ever one it was it made me think "right, this is what i want to do for the rest of my life" ;P
The Weight... Made me realise there is so much more going on than whats happening in my own world... Made me realise how absolutely groovy The Band are... Therefore this song led me to discovering other bands such as Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin... And then that led to me discovering all about the carefree lifestyle that I should have been living.... Before my dad sat me down and made me listen to the Weight I was heavily into being a typical teenage "gotta look cool... gotta spend hundreds of dollars a month on what looks cool etc." Therefore... Im thankful for the genious of The Weight... Its also given me a MEAN travelling bug... Ive been on roadtrips every weekend almost and have hopped on a plane nearly every 4 months lol.... Wow that was... wierd?
lol i loove that song so much ;P yeah i used to be like that all teeny and such, ooh gotta look cool. bullshit ;P heh
head like a hole. I literally had a bowl in one hand and a beer in the other when trent was telling me to bow down before the one I served. I realized I didnt actually like pot anymore, it gave me panic attacks, and I was merely trying to hold onto something that I had loved but long since lost any actual enjoment from now I drink more often then I should....
Morning Dew 4/29/71 version specifically. I was 9 years old when my brother played it for me and from the first note, I was immediately hooked. As with many people, Grateful Dead music has had a MAJOR impact on my life - where I've traveled and how I've lived.
live version of `Help me' by ten years after, tough it took a while before i really got into rock n roll and the culture around it, which started with some temporary bands the von bondies and te datsuns
Whole lotta love is probably the most emotive piece of rock ever revealed, but for me it's not THE song since it changed my life only gradually Songs that have had the greatest impact on me are probably some which I've written myself..! And by that I don't say they're great but they certainly have taken me places. Growing through one's own songs can be intense man... and I'm glad I've had the opportunity.
the body breaks - devendra banhart dont really know if it changed my life, but sure does make living alot easier knowing this song exists
3 songs that totally rocked me 1st time I heard them- Hit the road Jack-Ray Charles Reach out I'll be there- Four Tops Papa was a rolling stone- Temptations
for me it was dazed and confused by Zeppelin. it just sounded so radically different then anything i had ever heard before. Since then its been a blur
The Stranger (two souls in communion) of the Grateful Dead. A guy in my local small music store said to me, you need to listen to this cd, it was Rocking the Rhein. He started with The Stranger. I was almost crying in the music shop, it was precisely how I felt at the moment. I still cry everytime I hear this song. The second is Turn on your Lovelight. it just made me realise life is short and just have fun.
July Morning by Uriah Heep. That was allways my song,i can listen to it all day long and the next day,and the next day,and the next day....
