Hi Everyone, I am planning to travel to Los Angeles in 2007 and work my way up the West Coast, across Canada and down the east coast again. For a few weeks to a month I want to stay at a commune or farm where I can live for free and be fed and accommodated in exchange for helping grow the food. As far as i know, the choices in Australia are very limited. I have read that some hippy and environmentalist communes exist in the Mountains east of California, but my sources are very outdated, and there aren't many decent hits on Google about modern communes. If anybody knows of some good communes, websites about communes or would like to invite me to their commune, please use this thread. Thanks. Fieldy.
http://www.ic.org/ http://directory.ic.org/iclist/ Thats where you can start your search plenty more around ... browse the older hipforums communal threads is a good way to learn more about some of them too.. good luck!
That was really helpful, I have also found that thousands of communes and monasteries are listed in the Willing Workers on Organic Farms directory. www.wwoof.org
hey there lying in a field, im in. ive wanted to do the exact thing my whole life just havent found anyone willing to give up there 9 to 5 to find peace and happiness. it would be the coolest thing to do. we could find someone to us lye our head along the way.there are still some good people left in the world.anyway if you are really considering it please contact me at bdmcniven@yahoo.com. i could drive and have supplies ready.
Ive thought about doing the same thing .... it would be great for a few people to get together to and go do that ... my problem is not wanting to go at it alone, and, I still havent quite figured out what I want to do either. lol .. theres so many things that can be done, really....
I would think we've all wanted to do that... The trouble is finding someplace where money isn't the main thing on everybody's mind~ And that is one hell of a sticking point! Anyway, I'm heading down to North Carolina next week, since I've pretty much exhausted my search up here in New England. There's got to be something somewhere, eh?... Grouve on, ~Kharmi
aussies created the permaculture movement But dont do a google search for communes do a search for eco villages or sustainable communities or things like that green, eco, sustainable, organic,
