    hi

i just bought this record and it's simply stunning. does anyone of you know mercan dede's music? i've always felt that his older records weren't that satisfying but this one really is. it is kind of experimental, using modern electronic beats with authentic instruments of sufi music. nefes is turkish and means breath, probably relating to the ney (a flute, main instrument of sufi music, besides kanun, ud...) sufis/dervishes have a long tradition in many middle east countries, and this record is an good effort to fuse western electronic music with oriental middle eastern music. mercan dede is quite familiar in western counries, he released his first records in canada, as far as i know. give this record a listen!! its worth it.
