I nearly had who-knows-what happen...

I could have lost LOTS of money. Maybe had my identity stolen. And why? Because people took advantage of me, and I ended up giving out my bank account # to people I didn't know over the PHONE. Yeah yeah, I'm stupid for doing it. Believe me, I know!

They (unavailable ID, I don't know who they are) called and claimed I was in a sweepstakes for a million dollars, and were sending me a watch and free magazines. Then they said I was going to get other magazines for 40% off. At this point, I wasn't listening to much, and they said it would be 18 payments of around $30, and could they please have my account #? I said I didn't give it away over the phone, and they assured me there was no fraud, blah blah blah. So I did, the conversation ended, and I realized what I complete fool I am.

Swiftly called my bank, had my card stuff cancelled, and don't have any money for a while, until I get a new card (no bank of america besides the atm machine around in ellensburg), which will be sent to my house halfway across the state.

Point of this all is that if anyone calls claiming you won something, HANG UP! I knew I should have from the get-go, but the people were VERY convincing. It makes me sick that people try and take advantage of others like that, and after having it happen to me, I don't want anyone to even listen to what they have to say, because it really is no good. And yes, I KNOW how naive, stupid, and all that I am. Just trying to warn people.

Eek! Sorry to hear about that. Good thing you cancelled the card right away.
Don't worry about it too much either, we all make those kind of dumb mistakes. Or, you know, maybe not. I sure know I do

"Hello! Consumer advocacy and anti-fraud International - How may I direct your call?"

Theres no need to feel silly - thats why those people are con artists - they are believable. You believe them - they are convincing - its only their story you question and then only a little later - too late sometimes - so well done for being quick
