HRW is the only group I often trust with my money. I have been giving $20 a month, but I'm going to start working this summer and making a lot more then what I have been doing, so I'll give a lot more.

I've given money to MercyCorps before for emergency relief, but they do engage in food dumping practices. I only donate through specific causes through them. I don't really trust them too much.

There are lots of others I have given too, United Way, Red Cross, but these are also for specific causes, because of some missues of funds in the past.

I don't really belong to many political orginizations because not many people share my politics. I'm kind of a liberal, neo-liberal, neo-con. It makes organizing hard.

I'm not religious and I hate values. [IMG]

That's PETA for you. I bet you thought you were paying to help kitties.

have donated to and do when I can/they're having a big drive thing... CHEP (child hunger education program, local thing that's expanded tremendously and rocks) and United Way since (last I heard) they had one of the highest percentages of their donations actually going to the people it's intended to help

Damn, what an apathetic society we live in!

No wonder no progress is being made! Our generation is far the those of the 60s/70s. Americans today had rather watch American Idol than protest a bloody war, corporate greed and an Imperial President.

Sorry, guys, you can throw around your sarcasm, but it's really sad to me. I am geniunely disappointed. I thought the HipForums would have more people who actually DID something or at least attempted to, than the typical highschooler mentality of "I don't give a fuck, give me my Ipod."

I've done the Walk to End Breast Cancer a few times; I've knit items for Salvation Army collections and for other knitting charities.
