you just need elastic thread..n its actually really really easy!! the hardest part is the measuring...cuz it obviously shrinks the top part alot..

can i find elastic thread at basically any craft place? do i just use a regular bobbin?
taunt-does that mean hold it so that it's stretched?
i feel like a total dumbass right now........but i'm still pretty new at this....

    lol
you can find elastic thread with the elastic at the fabric store, i got mine at joann's..yes..use a regular bobbin..you have to hand wind it or very slowly and carefully wind it on the machine...it just cant be too loose..or too tight....hold the fabric so its stretched as you are sewing it...so that you dont sew puckers in it...
also when yer done with it...steam it with the iron to get the elastic back to its original state...it shrinks it up..
    good luck!

I actually found some at the dollar store the other day! I'm excited, I'm gunna go make one now!
One more question....since the fabric "gathers" how long do you make the bodice? Double the length...the length plus half....? I'd think that it would be the latter....how long did you make yours?

    thanks ladies )

kirstyn-you need to worry about the wideness of it...cuz it shrinks sideways..the length on this one was about 40 inches.. n the width of the top was like 80 inches! when the bodice was done it stretched to almost 50 inches but woulda fit a smaller mama.. so like double the amount you want it to be in the end..when measuring the width of the bodice.. you can do it! lol

im addicted to makin these tops now..so easy! i found elastic thread at walmart for 81 cents each..woohoo!
