    hi guys! i have a three bedroom in an apt buliding now, . right now, i am using one of them as veg room, and another two is for flowering. The veg room is really small, actually it's a den. there are two problems i have.

    first, i dont have enough baby to grow in that tiny room;

    second, i am using 13*1000w lights in other rooms. my friend told me i am consuming too much hydro, i am concerning to switch them to 400w bulb. one of growshop boss told me there is a really special 400w bulb(HOTILUX).the bulb is around 100 cad bucks. he said there's no big difference compare with 1000w bulb. Have you guys ever heard about this bulb, is it true? i doubt it.

    Uhh, if you are using 13 1000w bulbs in an apartment, you are asking to get raided. I don't even understand how your circuits can handle that. But to answer your question, no, I haven't heard of any 400w bulbs that output as much light as a 1000w bulb, unless you're talking a warehouse 1000w ballast compared to a 400w horticulture ballast. Even then, I don't see it happening.

    i agree.................all those horticulture bulbs do is have a better spectrum for the plants, I use a hort. MH and the difference(atleast what i understand) is that is has the red sprectrum added in.

    Even seven in one room and six in another is still on average six and a half KW per room. This is not possible in an appartment. It would be like having 13 electric fires going. And if you do have such an amazing setup which must of cost a few thousand dollars whats with the silly question?

    13KWh = 156KWh per day. That's almost 5000KWh per month. Plus all the fans and accessory equipment you must have running. Yer looking at 7000KWh/month.

    I used 1600KW for both the months of February and March combined in a 2-bedroom house. For all of my household electricity, including my grow. And it's very cold in Feb/March here, and I use electric heaters.

    Somebody needs to learn some more stuff instead of just apparently throwing money around though, regardless. You can't just screw a 400W bulb into a 1000W ballast.
    So, not only will ya spend $100/bulb. You will also spend another $300 per ballast.
    Throw some of that money my way! I could use $5000 :)

    Simply put, if you don't know what you are doing, you are wasting your money and are just begging to get busted. How do you hide an op like that? In an apartment no less. Have you experienced how potent 500sqft of budding marijuana smells? Where do you vent that? What about all the humidity you create? Have you sealed all the walls and the floor and the ceiling with plastic and lined with mylar? I'm guessing you haven't, since you apparently don't have a temperature problem. That apartment will be condemned by the time you get kicked out.
