I say it's American Pie! I love the lyrics, but Pink Floyd makes the rockin' world go round. Wish You Were Here...
No, Syd Barrett makes the world go round, which is why Shine On You Crazy Diamond is the greatest song ever.
I do beleive that the greatest song in the world was lost in the minds of kg and rage cage.... but there is a Tribute to the greatest song in the world... Tribute=Tenacious D
But you forget, one of the last songs that Syd Barrett recorded with Floyd, "Let There Be More Light" (he plays at least one of the guitar parts), features a reference to Lucy In The Sky... So I say again, Syd Barrett makes the world go 'round, which is why "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is the greatest song ever.
It's impossible to pinpoint one song as 'the best song ever'... but the song that affects me the most is the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb... the extended guitar solo and the visuals almost always send me to another planet.
Boots of Spanish Leather - Bob Dylan .....or Times they are a-changin' - Bob Dylan. I want to say These Days - Mates of State but I'll refrain because it isn't that well known.
Since about age 18, my single favorite "song" would probably have to be Thick As A Brick by Jethro Tull (not the stupid chopped-to-nothing crappy radio version). Since it takes up all of two full album sides, it's really not so much a song as a suite of music. But since it has a single title and theme, I think it's considered to be a single song, and no other single song has ever given me as much joy.
OMFG! LOL! All that. I SWEAR I almost posted the EXACT same song, in jest. "Skyrocket's in flight, afternoon deliiiight. AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa aaaa aaaa aaa. Afternoon delight." OH yeah. Dang. That's really got me chuckling. Very funny coincidence
