This book is amazing. I believe everyone should read it once they get a chance. It will seriously change your life, and make you feel better about how the world is getting these days. With the technology and everything. It puts everything ito a new light. It's like everything you feel and think is put into words for you, well for me anyways. mmmm good book check it out.
I absolutely agree. I read it and fell in love with it. Even my husband, who isn't much of a reader, thought it was excellent. It was funny, I gave a copy to my brother in law at christmas (he just got a motorbike a month earlier) and now he can't stop talking about it... he thought it'd be weird but he authentically enjoyed it.
Believe it or not, it really is about Zen and motorcycle maintainance. Sorta. Well, not really, but he uses motorcycle maintainance as a theme/example. Sorta. But the Zen part is all over the book. Well, in a way. Anyways, good book. And very easy to read considering how deep it is.
It's a great book! You'll find yourself reading it and thinking wow! Some of the ideas and descriptions are amazing. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It is viewed as being a pretty pretensious book because it incorporates a lot of philosophical ideas, but don't let this put you off if you plan to read it. Everyone will take something to think about from the book. The strangest thing is i'd be reading it and then spend 10 minutes thinking about what i'd just read without realising i'd stopped reading! Its absorbing. I'll give you a basic overview of the story. It is about the narrator of the story and his son Chris taking a month long journey from Minnesota to California...it goes without saying they travel by motor bike! This is essentially the story but Robert Pirsig uses the journey, maintenance of the motorcycle and the relationships between narrator and son and a couple who join them for part of the journey etc, to discuss eastern & western philosophy, values, relationships, madness and ultimately enlightenment. It sounds heavy going and at times it takes perserverance but it is one of the most rewarding books you are likely to read! Let me know what you think
oh boy, i loved this book. absorbing is the perfect word to describe it. it was excellent. i plan on reading Lila now, has anyone on here read it?
i've got a copy sat gathering dust....i've been lazy and not got around to it yet! I'm sure it'll be good though!
