Just wondering when to plant in Southern Ontario, just above Michigan, I've read around June 1st, I'd like to plant as soon as possible because im getting seeds given to me so I dont know how long they'll take to flower.

    thanks

Start them indoors in pots then plant out after the last frost. In the UK its normally beginning of May. June 1st sounds a bit late.

i really wish i had the option of starting indoors as its clearly the way to go, but i have no way of doing so. i suppose if i were planting from seeds i should start even sooner then, i really wish i didnt have to start them outside but i have no choice. it hasnt snowed or been cold enough for frost in a couple weeks so i think im clear for that.

Get them started now the sooner the better. Buy a seed germinating kit from the garden centre (or make one),basically a seed tray full of soil with a plastic lid to retain moisture. Hide it outside and germinate your seeds in this first. Then replant when there a couple of inches tall or when they reach the plastic lid. You will probably get a lot higher germination rate than planting them straight in the ground.
