My girlfriend did my dreads yesterday. I swear, I'm in love with them. They're my roots to mother earth...anyway, enough about that, I don't want to bore you all...She didn't use any wax, 'cause it's crap. They already look like dreads (which I didn't expect) but they're not tight and are not fully locked. I'm not worry, I know it takes time. My girlfriend put rubber band at the roots and tip but the one at the roots hurt like hell. Does anyone know approximatly how much time the bands will have to stay in?

    Thanks
    Peace

id take the root ones out immediately, they do absolutely nothing to help, and only prevent the hair at the root from moving(which in turn prevents locking). the ones at the tip i'd leave in for no longer than 2 weeks or they will be lost in there forever

I left them in for about a month. After 1 or 2 days the pain went away. But I think it did help them from falling apart at the roots. I had no rubber bands at the tips, I just used the twist and rip method for the tips so they wouldn't fall apart.

rubberbands...eh..well using them on the tips for about 1 day can help them knot up at the tip...but the roots>?....no freakin way. it will seperate and give u this weird blinding sectional look that really is not pretty.
