joined the navy. she's working really hard to become an underwater welder. she'll be a reserve, and even if she's called up, she'll still have her longshoreman's casual card. i'm so excited for her. i really hope she makes it. if she makes the program, she'll have to do phase 2 of seal training, but she's a natural athlete and badass anyway. she's already in scuba training, and been working out heavily to prepare for boot camp and further training. she's smart, she's bold and she's energetic. her only problem would be that she's so damned pretty. but she learned to make up for her looks by being as obnoxious as possible. keep your fingers crossed for her, please. i'm so proud.
i knew a brother whos family owned a company that did underwater welding on oil rigs.. HUGE MONEY!!!!!! HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (over a 1000 a day 15 years ago,,course his parents owned the company) dangerous work tho.. i hope she finds her fortune..
that's awesome! I'm sure your sister is gonna rock at that, she sounds pretty frickin tough in a good way, of course
naturally. one thing you gotta know how to be when you're small, pretty and unusual is how to be tough.
Yay for your sister, KC...I'm so glad she is doing something she really wants to do. That is the most important thing of all! And it's good she has such a loving, supportive sister in you!
me too. then she can support me in the manner to which i've become accustomed. not that she wouldn't buy me beer now...but still... as my mom always brings up when jocelyn is being a pain "well, YOU raised her.." why yes, yes i did. nya nya!
That's so cool. I've been told the Navy is the most difficult branch of the military to be accepted into and the bootcamp is insane, but from your description, I bet she'll breeze through. I think it would be phenomenal to accomplish something like that, but I'm a total wussy when it comes to stuff like the military. I wouldn't even join the airforce and the recruiter who talked to me said one of the last trials is laser tag. Heh.
Wow, that's awesome. Underwater Weilding is really tough. Also, does she like red heads? And I think she has to go through SF/SERE phase three too. Survival and evasion, which is supposed to be pretty unpleasent. Not as physically strenous as the rest, but the one people hate the most. My advice to her is to focus really havily on arobics. She can get all the strength she needs in boot camp, but the phase two stuff will mostly be swimming and bitching. Imagine being forced to run through rings of fire with a bullwhip. It'll be pretty rough, but I bet she can do it. Way to raise 'em KC.
i did good work. hehe. she's been a swim champ since she was 9 or so. she also was on the track team in high school. aerobics are her forte. our mother was a marathoner, and our father, 69 yrs old, can run 20 miles straight uphill in malaysian heat just to get to the beer at the top of the mountain without breaking a sweat. as for rings of fire and bullwhips, it's just another dinner with the family so far as we're concerned. dal was career navy. his daughter just made captain. i think she can do it.
Eh, pretty much all basic training is easy, army/navy and marines. Lazer tag serves a pretty good role too. it teaches them to try not to get shot. Navy bootcamp is a little easier then army/marine because the roles are different. Their all pretty easy though. Any special operations training is pretty tough though. Any basic training their just trying to get everyone through, but SO training they don't care if you get through even when the standards are much higher and the missions are much much tougher.
Right on. Benig a swim champ will make phase two stuff much less overbeaing. Sounds tough. I'm sure she'll do great. 69 years old? Hot Damn.
