Lol. Yeah. But the whole idea of having a subforum like that is that when it turns into a pissing contest, and it's been made clear that the forum is for objectively comparing ideas/interpretations from a scholastic POV, the mod can pull a "kids, go in the other room, grownups are talking".

Basically anything purely emotional could be automatically considered off topic.

Can we have cookies and milk in the kiddie room?!?!

But all in all I really think subforms(if done right) could help clear up alot of the mess.

I think subforms might be a good call at this point. *shrugs*

But are we sure that, one subforum aside, there will be enough material?

It seems like one subforum might end up with pages and pages of topics all started by one or a few people, and the other subforums might flounder.

This one is definitely a good idea though. :p

    Those are good divisions.

Although an "Evolution/Creation Debate" subforum would probably be a pretty hot one.

*cough* Isn't faith based solely on emotion and not on logic or rationality at all? ;) Hehe ...

The evolution topic would fall under controversies. I don't see the need for a separate forum for one topic.

I don't think there is one aspect of christianity that doesn't have a controversial side. Might as well just keep the main forum.

Well no, not in my opinion, but I won't go into that here.

What I'm saying is if the premis of the forum is actually reading something from the bible and discussing what it means, comparing interpretations, etc then if someone (christian or otherwise) comes on and says "The bible says this" and you can show them that "no, it doesn't actually say that" it would be on the original poster to prove or disprove his point, instead of resorting to the usual stratagy in the present forum; dissembling, changing the subject and acting like we're still on topic, launching into a multi-post ad hominum to bury the actual information...

    for instance;

Nut: "the bible clearly states that all Arab people are decended from the Caaninites, who are in turn direct decendents of Cain (hence the name)...

NonNut: "Ummm, no actually, it says right there in Genisis that the only people who survived the flood were decendents of Seth (shows chapter and verse)...

Nut: "Oh so I suppose you think terrorists are good people, well you are a sick, deluded, blah blah blah.....

That last response is purely emotional, doesn't address the actual information,
    and is obviously offtopic.

Not quite. This forum is not just for bible study. That's why I'm suggesting subforums.

I was actually suggesting that as a sub-forum. Basically what I'm suggesting is that we create a subforum where people who are actually reading the bible (or the gnostic texts, or studying the history of how the stories evolved) could get together and compare notes, opinions, ask for clarification, etc.

One thing I've noticed about christians and skeptics alike is that most of them are basing their beliefs/ opinions about the bible on things that aren't actually in there. or some rediculous interpretatiion of what is.
