I'm not sure what else to call em but I got some of those compressed things of peat that you had water to and they expand. I was wondering if it was okay and would work to germinate the seeds in those. You can also plant the disks in the ground I think. Any help would be appreciated. Also what condition should be set up for germination? Light, temp, etc.
im currently using those thigns, there alright i guess, i heard some people talkign shit about em but my buddy has a few seedlings he sprouted using em. im still waiting on mine i think it will take like a week cause ur just putting seeds directly into soil.
Those peat discs are great, but within a few days of the seedling breaking the soil you should put them into the ground (or larger containers). You should keep them relatively warm (room temp is fine), barely moist and they don't need light at all until the seedling breaks the soil. Better than peat discs are little planters made of peat. They come in different sizes I use something like 2" across & 5" deep. Fill them with potting soil and they'll be good enough for a week once the seedling appears. The beauty of using peat discs or pots is that when you put them in their permanent home, you plant peat and all. The roots easily grow through the peat--no root disturbance when transplanting.
