If you were just handed a million dollars, tax and risk free, what would you do with it?

If I had that kind of dough, I'd first pay of my bills and debts, donate a bit of cash to charity (gotta to that whole good karmic thing) and then spend the rest on things I've always wanted... just a nice shopping spree! Oh wait, before that last one, I'd renovate my house!

Pay off debt? If you've got a million dollars, you don't really need credit.

I'd buy a cheap, cheap, cheap house and renovate it. I'd pimp my lincoln. I'd buy a kilo of coke, and I'd save the rest for retirement.

pay off all my bills and all of my families bills, put a down payment on a beach home and put the rest in a high interest bearing account and carry on with my life as normal...I would say donate to a non-profit but after seeing how they are run and how much money they have in foundations and trusts I stopped donated-even to the aspca I'll bring in supplies but not cash.

Exactly. Well, almost. Travel the world and vanish.

Probably buy a modest condo here in town, put the rest in the bank and go to law school

    3 votes for vanish/travel
    7 votes for land/home

i think i'd probably fall somewhere in between and i'd add in a bit of education too. i dont ever plan on retiring. i'd want to change my career though if i had funds like that.

    invest it
either into real estate, and live off the rent that people would pay me
or into a software company that I would sell for 10-100x the initial investment
depends on how big of a risk id want to take
