    thanks for introducing me, though i didnt see any of their women ? i hope there not oppressed by paricentric cultures. i hope they survive globalisation and the rot of the free market economy.

    actually, Africa's equivilent to Rastas are Rastas :rolleyes:

    Rastafari originates from Ethiopia, it's biggest in Jamacia now-a-days but it still has a pan-african following

    Much as the gnawa are a culturally addapted manifestation of Islam, Rastafari has it's roots in Christianity. But this is really just the tip of the iceburg, there are a mryiad of such religions in Africa, more often then not the result of a mixing betweem traditional animistic beliefs with either the cristian or islamic faith.
