Hello there, this is my first season growing and im wondering if my setup is sufficient to start my seedlings (indoors). I have a fairly shallow plastic container with a clear plastic cover, i have 20 peat pots each with one seed planted inside and i have a 40W lamp approximately 4 inches from the surface running 24/7. the operation is just over a day old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

im just using the lamp to provide heat, since i didnt germinate. During the day ill leave them near a window. there is a considerable amount of condensation on the top of the container, is this ok? i dont want my seeds to rot. Im so paranoid i cant sleep....lol

You would be well-served to read a grow book.
-Leave the lights on full time.
-When growing from seeds there is no reason to use a humidity dome.
    -You should add more light.
-You won't get enough light from a window to grow pot.

    No, there's not enough light.

Outside, a plant gets light dawn to dusk, a lot more than inside where walls block the sun most of the time.
The plants would grow long and tall with few leaves and a skinny stem as it despertly tries to get more light. After about 10 days it keels over and dies.
And regular house lights don't work. You'd need fluorescents just a few inches away, or MH or HPS light.

    Why not start them outside?

Hey wats up, im gratz life partner (ahhaha no im a fucking liar, im his grow partner)....my growing experience is limited to growing a clone a summer or two ago, it was a beauty, 3 feet high at the time of its assassination (ripped outta the soil by a neighbour possibly). This time around seeds are in place in a coverable tray. Any CRUCIAL things about sprouting them? ie they arent poking thru yet, does light play a roll at this time?
