Yeah, that's right. He's playing right down the fucking street from me... which is amazing. I used to be excited when concerts were within an hour away. :D The ticket cost $57, which is kind of high, I guess, but hell, it's Ravi Shankar, one of the best (THE best?) musicians on Earth!

I'm going to try and record the two-hour concert. I borrowed a little digital recorder from a guy I know, so we'll see how that works.

Indian classical music is so cool. :H

cool dood, have a good un.....

Ravi Shankar is the emblematic musician of the classical tradition of North India. Born in 1920 in Benares, he followed the strict teaching of his guru, Baba Allaudin Khan, who taught him all the subtleties of the râga, that music that ‘'colours the soul''. He received in his own country the envied title of Pandit, as well as the esteem of great musicians coming from all the musical horizons of the planet, such as Yehudi Menuhin, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Philip Glass, Zubin Mehta, John Coltrane, or his disciple George Harrison.
After spending ten years far from the French stage, he comes back and introduces his daughter Anoushka, a brilliant sitar player who plays with him in concert since february 1995, when she played for the first time on stage aside him, on the occasion of his seventy-fifth anniversary, in Delhi.

    Hey, thanks everyone!

The concert was great. The first half featured Anoushka Shankar on sitar leading a ten-piece orchestra. The second half featured Ravi Shankar on lead sitar with Anoushka and an amazing tabla player. I actually might have enjoyed the first part of the show more. Anoushka Shankar is a really amazing player, and the orcchestra she led was flawless. They played a recently composed piece last, and wow, it was pretty damn impressive.

Ahaha... Ravi Shankar is like 86 years old. :D I'm sure this will end up being the only chance I have to see him, and I'm glad I took it.

Yeah, and I opted for the cheaper ticket. I could have sat a little closet for $70... and I could have sat higher and further back for $35. I had a really good seat, though, so I think I made the best choice.

Oh yeah, and I did get to record the concert. They kept saying you're not allowed, but whatever. :D I just didn't let anyone know what I was up to. I'm going to work with some other guys to EQ the recording and get the best possible sound out of it.
