First off, excuse the crapness of the post! I'd just made a grand one detailing all I love about the guy. Then lost it in a copy/paste fiasco It basically boiled down to me telling how I think he was one of the greatest musical talents of the 90's. And that live, he was amazing! I also had this handy little list for newcomers to Jeff... 1- Lover, You Should've Come Over 2- Last Goodbye 3- Hallelujah (best Cohen cover ever!) 4- Morning Theft 5- Mojo Pin What do you think of him? What are your fave tracks?
Yeah he is good... but I have come to the conclusion that I have to been in the mood to like him cos if I'm not I don't like him... same thing with Tim Buckley and Morrisey. (I hate it when you write a long post and then loose it)
I just downloaded that BBC Documentary on Jeff Buckley... I shall watch it later.. Anyway... Back to the point...
I think when he died he was 'very good' but still up and coming, had he not died so tragically I think you would have see the development of one of the greatest individual talents in many, many years. He didn't really find his musical feet until he hit early-mid twenties so had he developed further I believe we'd be talking about someone that 'everyone would adore' a la Kurt Cobain, and thats one hell of a comparison to make but in my opinion justified, as it stands the stuff he did was superb, its just a shame theres not enough of it, unfortunately, we'll never know what would have been.
yeah jeff is pretty amazing although the album they released after he died really cast a shadow over my admiration of him sketches for my sweetheart the drunk i believe its called... if you really like jeff, then avoid this album it'll cast so much doubt over him as an artist Grace is amazing, and powerful album, but the other album makes me just wanna slap him Tim buckley is amazing, and i think partly more talented, although i shouldnt compare the two
cant really say i like his music much...his voice is ok i spose. dont know what all the fuss is about
I beg to differJeff was a rare talent. I've heard practically everything that's been put out by him. my fav songs would have to be: lover, you should've come over grace mojo pin dream brother hallelujah what will you say moodswing whiskey [crazy shot of whiskey in about 0 to 60] last goodbye you & I nightmares by the sea yard of blonde girls jewel box and I love all the covers he does from Dylan, Hank Williams, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Leonard Cohen, Genesis, Van Morrison and all else his father Tim was also such a rarity when it comes to talent and voice
Rich I want you to take that back...you are listening to him at the moment. Tell me that you don't love every moment of it?
No no no no no! Jeff 'Average' 'Mediocre' Buckley should be his official name If it makes you feel better I do love Prince though
i love jeff buckley.. his voice, his music.. full of passion... he's funny too. he was a beautifully soulful musican and was so creative... he was so in touch with his music... i love him i love him... - not just cos he was cute either!
agh! Dandy noo shush your ruining everything Jeff's music isnt the most interesting, his voice isnt that great to make the songs interesting enough... The only people who have good enough voices to get away with having bland music would be Joni Mitchell 30 years ago or Bjork today.
look rich your loosing to two girls.... admit your wrong and walk about from this debate with some dignity left still attached
I resent that, Showmet OK OK OK ! its all a matter of taste, some people have good taste, some bad.... and lucky enough I have good taste ! *gets the hell out of here before he's beaten to death by an army of obsessed fans*!
