i've never used a AMD. but AMD mimiced most of Intel's instruction sets. my friends say AMD is better for PC games(i've got no proof)

I use AMD, better for graphics and gaming,
Also better at handling major Adobe Photoshop filter effects
    and general graphics, apparently.?

AMD compared to Intel are totally different ballgames even though they run the same stuff.

    both are x86 and/or x86_64-bit ready.(doesnt matter to you)

speedwise, AMD is slower than Intel's chips BUT the current AMD's aka the 939 sockets (single and dual core) blow Intels current sockets out of the market. AMD Athlon 64 is solid as hell, runs cooler, it CAN be cheaper and runs better.

now the new Intel Conroe is going to OWN but im not moving away from my 939 socket jsust yet. I am AMD user for life. but oth AMD and Intel are good. i just refer AMD because they dont change socekts all the time and continue to call it a pentium 4.

AMD really shook Intels stance when the K62 cpu's came out, running faster under 3D enviroments and Intel never caught up with them. They are cheaper to buy, better for gamming. There have been numerous bench tests and AMD rocks all the time. Intel has a habit of just over clocking an existing platform.

Ever since the K62-450cpu came out, I have never looked at Intel again.

I've been building AMD since the 386. Over the years I've built 54 machines for me and my friends. (only 3 of those were intel) Currently, I like my A64.
85 series "opties" are coming pretty soon. (think FX-60 only cheaper)
