I was wondering, is there any way for a minor to obtain the Pill (for sexual reasons) without her parents' consent? Or what about without their knowledge?
I am looking to go on the Pill eventually (obviously I haven't really started looking into this yet), but possibly before I'm 18. I suppose if all else fails I could say I want it for my skin or lighter periods, or something like that. Or I could wait til I'm 18 (ack!).
    Any advice on these matters?

Depending on where you live (US or elsewhere) but if you are in the US, you can go to any local Planned-Parenthood Clininc (they have a website, just pop ém into Google) and they will protect your confidentiality, and you won't even have to pay for it.

If you live elsewhere in the world, you should check the phone book or ask your friends about a sex-health clinic that can maintain your confidentiality... i'm sure you can find one...

check out www.plannedparenthood.org they should have a list of locations in your area.... good luck, and don't be scared when you get there, they'll walk you through the whole process!

    Hm....

How about Condoms? Is there some reason you don't think those are enough for you? They are easily acquired by anyone regardless of age, and do far more benefit to you than the pill. Just a thought.

they don't have more benefits than the pill as far as most things go. if she's worried about diseases then yes the condoms good. but as far as the advantages of regular, lighter periods/cramps, better sex (when she knows her partner is clean) and all the other benefits associated with the pill, i'd say it's way better than condoms

Hmm condoms are good, but if you use both, it's better

The pill is probably a good idea for minors more so than for adults because if this lovely young lady is finding it hard to obtain the contraceptive pill, imagine how much worse her situation would be if she were looking to get an abortion.

She obviously doesnt want her parents to know that shes sexually active, pregnacy is usually a good indication of sexual activity

but yes, USE CONDOMS AS WELL! RELIGIOUSLY

Thanks for the advice. Condoms are very useful too, but if it breaks... it'd be nice to have a backup contraceptive other than the infamous morning-after pill.

Even if you live in a small(er) area and don't have PP your doc or a walk-in can give them to you without parental notification - it's called docter-patient confidentiality.

But if you go to your family doctor and use your family insurance (which I'm assuming is all she can afford at seventeen), it will probably show up in some paperwork that a parent is going to see.

True - if the pill were covered by insurance, which unfortunatly it is not. The doc will give you a free month or two to try it if you ask though.
