from somone who is going or recently has gone through the same thing. I am sore, so sore that I didn't go to the gym or yoga studio at all today...I had a really intense yoga class yesterday (it's actually called power ass and abs...i shit you not) and the room was a bit chilly and as a result I am really ore. This is the first time I have been so sore where it aflicted my daily activities.
SHould I take a break and if so how many days? If I shouldn't take a break please motivate me to keep going and give me some ideas of some gentle workouts until I feel better.
I feel so tired and weak and achey, my thighs and stomach muscles and ass hurts...): help me does anyone want to buddy up through pm's and be online buddies? I can really use some support from somone who is also working hard to get back into shape. I just need a friend who is going through the same thing I am.
I post on the self forum but some of those girls seem like they don't eat enough and would reintroduce me into some unhealthy patterns and they are already running marathons and shit and I am no where near that adn want a friend who is at a similar fitness level as me.

    hugs :) and thanks :)

hi, i need some motivation too. We probly have different goals tho, I'm likely not going thru the same thing as you. My working out goals have very little to do with aesthetics and more to do with healing and getting strong and nimble again so I can take on the activities i once did. My physiotherapist says I'll be 100% in 2 weeks and I can feel it :).

I never did marathons and probly never will, more into acquiring new skills, polishing old skills, having fun and hopefully doing it all without getting injured :D. But I'm already pretty athletic, just wanna maintain it and do it smartly this time so I don't get hurt.

My advice if your muscles are sore is to take a break for a day or 2. I've gotten sore twice in the past 2 weeks from yoga, took 3 days break and when I went back to it it went better than it would have if I didn't take a break. But we're not suppose to do yoga that hard, we're suppose to relax, be intuned with our bodies and work within its limits to avoid sore muslce, that's been my impression anyways. Mysore yoga may be an exception to that haha, there is such a place and such a yoga ;).

I'm curious about the place you do yoga... "called power ass and abs" -- yoga is much more than that, wonder why they call it that. I took a single session of a 'piloga' class that claimed to be a yoga and pilates combo and I found it to be more of a modified gym class, it was at a rec center, I was gravely disappointed with it. IMHO the instructer had very little exposure to either yoga or pilates but marketed herself this way to make a living, this was a small size city.

You may wanna check out other yoga studios. Look for something like hatha, bikram, ashtanga, or other style of yogas. You may wanna stay away from aerobics-gym style yoga as they're likely to overwork you like an aerobics class and that's not what yoga is suppose to be.
I'm no yoga expert but I've studied yoga in studios solely dedicated to yoga, some even dedicated to a single style of yoga, and then I took yoga classes offered from a gym, and lemme tell you there's a difference and I favour the dedicated yoga studios over the gym.

The ideal climate for yoga is heat, the muscles are more relaxed with heat. If the room is chilly it'll stiffen the muscles and that's not conducive for yoga, it could play a role in why ur sore now... along with overworking selected muscle groups. (Aim to work all muscle groups.)

But don't take my word for it, you'll get more info from the yoga meditation forums than you will from me, like I said I'm no expert.

But yeah I could use motivation. In 2 weeks i did yoga 5 times... and I have time on my hands, I should be doing more. I seem to be putting it, but I put everything off, I'm so lacking in motivation.

lol I go to two diffferent place for yoga I go to a studio in san marcos with a reptable teacher and take hatha and ashtanga there and then take the power yoga classes at my gym, the teacher is practiced in yoga but is also a personal trainer so she combines yoga like moves to target specific parts of the body...it's nice because to be honest sataying in plank ect does nothing to progress my fitness level and I need to lose some weight

You DEFINITELY need to give your body a break.. You can't work out every single day and stress your body every day. 3 times a week is good, give yourself time in between to give your muscles a break.

:) I'm taking a break until Monday I need to look at it from a health and growth perspective rather than a weight and competitive thing. I took advice from too many people who didn't know what they were talking about, assuming that they were going to practice what they preached and instead they just badgered me into doing things they were unwilling to do themselves and I wound up sore, feeling like a failure and out of shape and fat...I think from now on I will just be listening to my personal trainer and yoga teacher and others (like you) who have a healthy view on exercise.

Sure I need to lose a few pounds and sure I would love to be able to go out and go on ten mile runs again but that's going to be a really long process not an overnight thing.
I just need to find more healthy and enjoyable things to do...I'm joining a women's soccer league this september with a few of my colleagues I am so excited I haven't played since high school.
ooohhh also my new job is at the Y so I will have a free membership and get a free personal trainer I'm stil keeping my membership at my gym now just because it's nice but it will great not to have to pay for personal training sessions anymore.
thank you for all of your nice words and help I wish you lived closer so we could be workout buddies! :)
