Hi guys, I'm writing yet another article on alternative technology. This time, it's a machine in America invented by a company aptly named Changing World Technologies, that can turn old computers, tyres, sewige, and offal from abatoirs, into clean water, oil and gass. How? you ask. The process is quite simple, in fact. Most of the reactors and pressure tanks employed in the system can be bought off the shelf, and the waste is then broken down into slurry, heated to break it down even further, before flowing into a flash vessle where the pressure drops so dramaticly that most of the water is removed, and the minerals settle out. The remaining organic matter is then heated to break down even further, before the oil, gass, water and carbons are drawn off from the distilation collumn. What makes this method even more environmentally beneficial is the fact that it is 85% energy officient, (as only the gass is used to fuel the plant) while the oil, carbon and minerals are sold, EG as fertaliser. There is one main disadvantage, however. The high cost of the barrels of oil produced by this plant, which, in 2003 cost roughly $15.00. I will write to the company and will send an email with more up-to-date information on that as soon as I receive a reply. For more info check out: www.changingworldtech.com and: http://www.sovereignty.org.uk/features/eco/zwaste2.html Now, come the questions: 1. Do you believe this method is beneficial as a world-wide practice longterm? why / why not? 2. Do you believe the economic reliance and political agenders the US have with the Middle East will prevent the company from going global? 3. Are you, personally, in favour of the method, or not? Explain. Please respond ASAP as I really want to make a start on this article, and note: I'm looking to publish it in the Gecko Newsletter and perhaps in Tsunami Magazine, (A music magazine on the Sunshine Coast who ocassionaly run environmental pieces), so if you don't wish to be quoted, simply let me know in your reply. Thanks, Jess.
i'm personaly in favor of eliminating the use of combustion for anything other then home heating and cooking. not in smoke screen excuses for not doing so. slight of hand myricales are very entertaining, but as long as we use combustion to generate energy and propell transportation we're fooling ourselves to immagine anything will enable us to continue doing so while some how preventing the natural consiquence of radicly shifting weather patterns and their consiquences for everyone. i don't mean to discourage anyone. i'm all for all sorts of things. i love tecnology. some tecnologies anyway. like this internet, or at least what it was when it was first going public, refrigeration, and little battery powered trolly trains recharged of the sun, wind and lotts of LITTLE hydro dams waay up in the hills that mostly don't currently have installed generating capacity. i'm also all for little furry creatures with big sharp teeth, and the survival and more then survival of our own species. as for bulk trash, that equals misplaced production, from invironmentaly ignorant self serving motivations, like the circular illogic of little green pieces of paper, at least putting them ahead of what we all have to live in and with anyway. quote me to your heart's content. i wonder what the odds really are that you will. =^^= .../\...
