I think that yes most church attenders are. why go to church regularly if ur not? I mean, sure if ur not a true believer but scared about hell or whatever then i suppose you go on christmas easter and stuff. But why else would u go? Regular church attenders wouldnt go unless they were genuine i reckon. Unless you're a kid whos parents have forced them to go or whatever... which i personally think is SO wrong.
Well Jesus gave us defintions of how to define a true Christian and warned against those who come in his name with only their mouth but deny Him with their heart. Ultimately no one can deteremine who is a true christian but God... however, the bible does state that we can know someone by their "fruits"
you don't think there is ever a social aspect of church? Where people go just for that part of it? OR they go because they think it will get them into heaven?
Random anecdote of what the thread title reminds me of: I was speaking with an Anglican minister and he said at one inter-sect church meeting he attended, a group on fundamentalist prodestants had to hold a meeting to decide of wheter or not he was a Christian or not and should be allowed to take part. What, he said, made it funny was that this same group was the same group who doesn't believe women shoudl hold offices in chuches, yet they let a female minister in before him because he was Anglican... Anywho, I do think that some people who attened church are just there for community or because they had just always gone or whatever and don't try and live everyday under God. This doesn't bother me though, they can do what they want (in the way of church attendance) and no one on here can say what a "true Chiristian" is.
That's kind of the whole point, though. Why go sit through some boring church sevice, or listen to some raving lunatic of a minister ranting about hell, if you don't think it will get you to heaven? That, recall, is why Jesus came and died, right? So we could all avoid hellfire?
The point of church is to learn about God more and to have fellowship with other Christian believers, it has nothing to do with salvation. Living in this world as a Christian with out fellowship of other Christian believers can be difficult. For example, I am a coach and if I did not have fellowship with other coaches I do not think I would have made it past my first season coaching this year. But because of their encouragement and knowledge they helped me to push forward and become an even stronger coach.
You have to be specific in the context. You are too vague on your question. Yes, sometimes you should judge people and sometimes you shouldn't judge people... society judges people when we put them in jail and then there are times when people judge how much others tithe... that would be an example of improper judgement. If someone murders another should we not "judge" the murderer?
