'Owdy folks... I'll be back in A'dam from June 2-9, looking to make some plans... I do a lot of photography, and will be wandering the city, museums, parks, and shops endlessly, but also want go take the train down to Rotterdam and other areas. Have a great time in Amsterdam. Just a quickie, if your into photography you will see many signs around the Red Light District banning taking pictures, btw. It's very advisable to not point your lens at the window girls, apart from that there is absolutely nothing to worry about.
Yes, I know exactly what you mean koopa. I've got a 300mm lens myself, took it with me once and had no problems. LOL Trouble is, the lens is so big that I stand out like a typical tourist which I'm not overly keen on, so usually take a small digital one now, but that lens can certainly zoom in.
Yeah, well aware of the 'no pics' rule in the Red Light. Makes sense - they're working, they don't want to be treated like novelties. I've done a decent amount of photography in A'dam already, but am aiming to head out of the central city and explore the outlying regions as well. ive just seen your pics. the shakedown pic thats obviously the stop and search that was talked about in other thread right. what street is that and when was it exactly.
coffee flavoured joint, i've just had. It smelt of coffee and tasted exactly like coffee, quite friggin potent weed. lol
Gaz&Jazz - The Shakedown pic was on Neuwendjik (sp?), right by The Flying Pig hostel. It was mid-March sometime. The police were evicting a group of squatters from a top-floor flat in one of the buildings, and had blocked off the street in both directions. Nemesis - where'd you find that coffee-flava J? I assume you're not in A'dam at the moment, but if you know of where to get flavoured herb there, please do advise. (And although I'm sure it's been said many times, great interactive map - it's helped me plan out many trips to the 'Dam...)
yeh, coincidently this stuff smells and tastes exactly like coffee, v-v-nice though Real strong coffee aromas and electric stuff. Sometimes weed can taste of the strangest things, eg, bubblegum, aniseed, tea, etc. Now where's my rolling papers.? LOL
