that are very harsh and hurtful....... my maternal grandmother is notorious for that. she is a very strict catholic woman, who isnt afraid to say whats on her mind. she is 95.5 years old and she still makes these remarks that can be quite harsh...... I guess mass on sunday was all about vocations (if you dont know what vocations are, its about god's will for people to become priests or nuns). anyways, my grandmother is pretty bad about pressuring her grandchildren that are single into becoming a priest and/or nun. and they try to tell her that she should not pressure anyone, just to pray, but she doesnt listen. anyways, my grandmother said, while my mom was sitting there, at the table, while they were playing cards, that she thought she did pretty good by having three kids who had vocations, but then one ended up quitting....... (which she was referring to my mother). my mom's sister who was also there told my grandma that wasnt a very nice thing to say, but she is so set in her ways. if it wasnt for my mom leaving the convent, and not taking her final vows, I wouldnt be here, neither would any of my brothers. thats just a very harsh thing to say. she always thinks about herself and how much respect she would get for having so many of her kids in respectable positions.
Ive never heard my grandmother cuss, Im sure she finds that as a sin. I would never in my right mind, cuss in front of my grandmother. I did get rather angry with her one time, because she had nothing nice to say about a drawing a did of the pope. her comment was "I just dont see how it looks like him" ouch. I really think she is not too fond of our family, anyways, we are like black sheep, I think because she still is bitter about my mom leaving the convent.
my grand mother cusses when shes cusses me out, but if she hears me cuss, she freaks that im going to hell. figure that out yea im having a family divorce one day.
if my grandmother found out that I havent been to church in about 5 years...... she would probably have an aneurism
My grandpa used to tell people exactly what was on his mind. My cousin got his wife pregnant before they got married and she was about 5 months along at their wedding and at the reception afterwards, my grandpa looks across the room and says loudly, "Well, she's not fat yet!" Ahhh...I miss him. As far as my grandmas go, one is very mild-mannered and lets the world step all over her and the other is very vocal with her feelings towards certain things, but uses the silent treatment when she feels strongly enough. Ahhh...old people...I can't wait to be one myself.
my grandmother used to hit us a lot. she used to scream at us a lot too, she didn't speak english so I'm not quite sure what she said.
My Grandmother was my best friend... I always thought Grandmothers were the best people in the world... haha But do remember that most Grandparents grew up in VERY different times... An they wont be around much longer so at least give them respect if you cant give them love
My maternal grandmother thought I was was beautiful and talented and that my kids were geniuses....she's gone now...
