i had synthetic dreadlocks done a while ago and found them near impossible to sleep on becuase of them being so tough...i took them out.
i am now thinkign of having proper natural dreadlocks done..and have booking in with someone who siad they'd do them for me .
will my head be just as sore ? or is it actually quite ok going to sleep on natural dreadlocks ?

thanks so much for your time
    peace

i know that when i had my extention ones my hair was unable to move..as in when i slept i couldnt lift my dreads out of the way and lay them above me...
and becuase they were so long they itched my back...
are real dreads unable to be lifted up and out of the way ? or are they quite easy to move about ?

real dreads can swing and move b/c there is about an inch of undreaded hair at the roots...(not always, but most of the time)....i sleep on my dreads, and they dont bother me. oh and you dont get natural dreadlocks done. lol do you mean backcombed, as in teasing it alot and palm rolling??

i put my hair up with a thick fabric elastic, or i just lie on my pillow and make sure it's all behind me, off the bed...if they're under my head or neck or back or arms or anything like that, they hurt and are kinda scratchy. oh, and they're made entirely of my own homegrown hair so they're not synth, but they still are annoying when underneath me.

i lift mine up and put them away from my neck. Not uncomfortable. It was a first but that was because Ihad rubber bands TIGHT on my roots...don't do that.

My dreads are pretty hard but they don't bother me to sleep on them. Actually, I joke that they're my own built-in pillow...haha. You can actually wear a tam and tuck all of your dreads inside and then they'll be outta your way, and you really will have a built-in pillow...:) Or you can just push them all behind you and sleep on your side. Either way, I have no trouble and don't even remember what it's like to sleep with straight hair...haha.

Maybe since you had synthetic dreads, the material used pulled on your regular hair so that, combined with sleeping on them, they pulled and hurt your head.

I usually make sure to keep them up over my head when I'm sleeping. They don't itch or anything, but when I'm laying on top of them, my partner and myself are always inadvertantly pulling them!
