The other night, while in my dream, i looked in a mirror and saw that I had a tounge ring on. I quickly thought-This must be a dream!
lol it was only a start, i could control where I went, and what i said to people, but somtimes id loose control n jus watch it, like a movie.
Anyone know how to make them last longer, or help me gain more control? i hope i have another 2night:p

Aw, you guys are so lucky. My typical attempt at a lucid dream goes something like this:

    Hm, this is a dream....
Whoa! This is a dream! Kick ass!
and then I get excited and wake up.
    :p

my attempts at lucid dreaming are something like this:

okay, i'm falling asleep, and when i get there, i will know i'm asleep...
okay, i'm falling asleep, and when i get there, i will know i'm asleep...
okay, i'm falling asleep, and when i get there, i will know i'm asleep...

and then something snaps me out of it, and i'm left there awake.

    :(

i always have lucid dreams. I don't plan on them, they just sorta happen. I'll all of a sudden realize im dreaming, and start controlling what i'm doing. It's fun, i always try to make myself fly. but yeah, sometimes i get too excited, and it wakes me up. which sucks.

Very cool, all of you, having lucid dreams.
That's always been a big interest of mine. I have lots of vivid dreams but most of the time they are not lucid. Then I have some where I am very powerful inside the dream, sometimes like super-powered, but not quite lucid. Then I've had about two real, honest-to-goodness lucid ones, where I found myself really excited and singing to myself, "I'm having a lucid dreeeeam! I'm having a lucid dreeeeam!" Those were very important to me, very dear, so I wrote them down right away.

There are all kinds of resources on the internet, magazines and books to help you develop techniques for lucid dreaming. It's not easy to do, though. I've found that after a few nights of trying to set myself up to have a lucid dream, I end up losing interest and simply forget to bother trying.

I came home this afternoon after having gotten up really early today, so I was tired and took a nap. I ended up sleeping for about 9 hours! I remember two dreams I had during that time, and they were really stressful and vivid. In one, I came out to my car in a parking lot and found that the entire left side of it had been bashed and scraped, and I was furious! And then I looked at all the vehicles around the lot and saw that each of them had similar damage. In addition, my left-side tires were slashed on the sidewalls. The cars that were damaged looked like they were PUNCHED -- in fact, one big dent was a perfect imprint of the front of a fist! (Looking back, I should have totally realized this was a dream and gone lucid, when I saw that.)

    Dreaming rules! :D

You must stare deeply into her eyes as you squeeze the life out of her, and as she dies that ability will be absorbed by you! :p

    j/k Don't kill your sister.

Just check out the techniques on that link and you might have some success. I've resumed working on it myself -- I tried last night and all this morning. No lucid dreams, but definitely had some vague dreams that this time, I didn't remember. But I'm sure it'll happen again.

I'm practicing a technique where during the day, I stop and check to see if this is a dream or reality. I also try to mentally imagine that it is a dream, and in my mind I superimpose things I will to happen over what I'm physically seeing. (Like, I'm staring at the sticky-note pad on my desk, and I imagine willing it to levitate and spin around. Flexing that kind of control can help you exercise control when you're dreaming. Try to imagine, while you're walking around, that you will yourself to levitate off the ground and fly where you will yourself mentally to go. I think that if you do these things, you are preparing for attempting them later on when you're in dream-state.

P.S. I guess I can consider myself lucky that I usually do have vivid dreams, and the blessed ability to remember them a lot (not every night, but enough). When I work out how to get lucid regularly, I'll be even happier. It's something to look forward to.

    Blue skies,

I lucid dream all the time. But I generally enjoy letting the dream play out.

Okay, I'm starting to get annoyed about all the people who have lucid dreaming come so easily to them... I want it too!

a friend of mine is dreaming of his mum dying almost every night for three weeks now, and it happens several times a year: sweating& crying till dawn. they're living together since he was born, and he's always afraid of losing her... nightmares have totally shattered his life.
i made him a dream catcher. but i feel there's more to this message than just the pure "fact" he's so scared of.

i didn't even know about lucid dreaming until i read this thread, but i can decide what to do, and set different scenes in my dreams. i like it i feel like i'm in control, but mostly just go where it takes me.

do you think my friend could control his mares? can you try to get this ability or is it just there?

    blessings.

Do you make a realization in the dream that you are in a dream? Or do you go through the dream with the power to change things, but still have not realized that it is in fact a dream? Does it still feel like it's real?

See, I have had only a couple of true lucid dreams, in the sense that I felt as though my entire conscious mind was there, and I was actually saying to myself the words, "I'm having a lucid dream, I'm having a lucid dream!"

In MANY other dreams, I was acting autonomously, but still under the influence of whatever dream circumstance had presented itself. In many of these dreams, I now realize, I was very close to making the realization that I was in fact dreaming, but I just never reached that point. And in many dreams, I have had great supernatural powers, like flight and telekinesis and reality-shaping -- all in spite of the fact that I felt like I was in reality and did not realize I was dreaming.

It's frustrating to read that so many people here have lucid dreams regularly, either by nature or because they can will them on, when I am struggling with "techniques" to try to make them happen, with very little or no success so far. :(

Well, each night is another try. At least I am blessed with very vivid and interesting dreams, and the ability to recall them in extreme detail much of the time...

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey

    I love lucid dreaming.
When I was a small child I would do it all the time without even trying. I just wish I could do it now
    :(
