do you think people relize the effect acid has had on our society since the 1960's? and beyond ..think about it for minute.
Sad thing is that no, alot of musicians don't use any psychedelic for inspiration. I'm not advocating use of hallucinagenics, but....think of all the great music from the 60's. Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, Doors, Steppenwolf, Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, etc. etc. Sorry if I missed your favorites, the list is long. All of which used something psychedelic atleast once to enhance it's musical voice. And then think about how much better the music was then to now. There has to be some reason. Sure you had a war going on and a revolution. But all you were missing now was the revolution, where were the flower children when Bush started his "War on Terror"/"War for Oil." I'll tell you where, most people who were flower children gave up about peace and became what they hated back then, the politicians and business men who they protested against they became now. It's pretty sad really. I wish music would change though, if I see one more Jay Z video or Beyonce, or little girl who's only famous because her big sister has a t.v. show and is dating some guy who used to have a musical career in 98 degrees. It's annoying. That's why when I started my band I decided no more bad music, we're gunna play good music.
the entire world has been affected in one way or another...not just music...but this entire existance...think about what all the acid inspired music inspired, think about who all teh acid inspired people inspired, think about what certin lsd inspired minds have done to change the world...everything has been effected, and i would say in a beautiful way.
Ever since the great acid wave of 65' a bunch of musicians have written songs based on it, but the group the comes to mind is the Beatles. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is the best acid song. If you have ever looked at paintings that people have done while on acid, they are beautiful. Its like they can see things others cant while on acid.
hmm maybe not society, except for the society that used drugs. there are some things that only people who have actually tried acid can associate with. the music that we hear isn't the same music some other people hear. if you ever think about it (i usually do when i'm starting to trip), think about all the people (if you're around people say on a street or walking around) that won't ever experience this. they think of acid and they don't know what to see of it. so the songs that have been written in relation to drugs, the people who have done it and can comprehend how they mean something, understand. other's, it's just music.
i agree totally, i think there needs to be a revolution amongst the youth of america again, and the hippie movement need to take place again, the music sucks today and means, nothing music then was all inspired by the use of acid pretty much and pot. This generation is the worst both musically and just everything, all the youth is all anti drug and drinking and smoking and everythings bad, it seems as though the government is succeeding in brainwashing the youth of america, stupid pigs. I wish someone would like overthrow the government. lol.
