depends on where I am. I often have pockets full of notes for personal writing, and I take hand notes for interviews but I compose (all) on the keyboard. I don't spell check unless something looks odd. I know my common mistypes and I will use find/replace.
Both... it seems to flow better when I write by hand, until my hand cramps up, so I have to stop sooner. I also don't write by hand very quickly, and I type at about 80 wpm. I don't write at that speed, though!
My writing method has always been a little chaotic. I start by writing whatever my mind is focused on at the moment and then all of a sudden something will surface to the top and I'll got from there. As for tools, doesn't matter so long as I am writing!
ahaha.... dry erase boards.. napkins......computer....my palm pilot.... ohhhhhh writing all over the place ideas come to me at the weirdest times...
I use the computer, because when I'm writing the words just spill out so fast, I could never keep up when writing by hand. But on the computer I can keep up with all my ideas better, and of course editing is easier.
I can capture ideas faster on computer ... plus go back and edit (add or subtract) without having to rewrite passages. But I do all of my idea-capturing on paper --with my special pens and pencils, in my special notebooks! And on napkins, paper bags, newspaper margins ... There is something very legitimate-feeling about sitting in the grass beneath a tree, intently writing something ... it also makes a great photograph!
I tend to write mainly on the computer, because I type faster than I write, and it's actually legible. But there is *something* about writing on paper, by hand, that is more real feeling...like suncatch said. But all my finished stuff is always done on the computer.
Typing on a computer is only helpful if you can type without looking. If you cant then your better off writing on paper.
Seeing as I'm blind, I write using a computer with a speech program, but I think there's somthing special in something hand-written, it just seems more personal, I reckon, but truly, creativity's creativity, regardless of how it's produced.
I write on paper, then type out my poems/ stories(i usually don't have a computer handy when i get an idea for a writing{i usually write in class to make use of otherwise wasted time})
Writing letters and stuff like that that other people see I use computer(because my hand writing sucks). But as for stuff thats just for me. I prefer paper.
Computer. My handwriting sucks, and I can type much faster than I can write. It's also much easier to go back and edit on the computer, so my writing comes out better when it's typed. Writing on paper also wastes trees.
both i dont trust the computer that much sometimes i write stuff and i save it but it somehow goes away.
