ok, i recently bought a monty python boxset on amazon.com which included monty python and the holy grail, and now for something completely different, and a python movie i'd actually never heard of, the adventures of baron munchausen...... ok...baron munchausen was made in the very late 80's (i think the back of the movie claims a copyright for 1989....and uma thurman plays the part of the goddess venus..... what? i didn't know that uma fucking thurman was in any monty python movie..... there are some monty python movies and sketches that own all. and then there are the rare misses..... if you've seen it, what's your opinion of the adventures of baron munchausen? even if it sucks, i'd watch it for that fine female....but i've seen some pretty positive reviews online... so whats your opinion? i'm getting more and more anxious as time goes on....
I think the film is crazy, but at the same time liked it very much. I think that it's more of a Terry Gilliam film more than a Python film, however, even though some of the Python cast are in it. I wouldn't class it in the same category as the Python classics, but it's worth watching simply for the amount of detail, Robin Williams, and the rather nice Uma Thurman.
A sure-fire way to tell if it's a Monty Python film, is if it's got Monty Python written somewhere in the title.
this is actually my fave terry gilliam movie. The only american member of python, hes a fine director, and has some great scenes in this one. Ive always loved it! It has a couple other similarities to python movies, note the guards at the castle that appear in Holy Grail and Life of Brian. Also, the little girl is the same little girl who was in Yellowbeard, with Graham Chapman. Another great comedy that isnt quite Python, but has Python to it!
