Is America just really tight?

After a lot of the posts on these forums it seems to me that america is really tight on weed. Like not being able to buy papers until you're 18? Do they even sell kingsize papers? And reading about sniffer dogs in schools, wtf? thats just insane, i dont think i saw the police in my school once except once when some kid broke his leg and they came to escort the ambulance or find out who did it or something.

In the UK it just seems accepted in most places, people go in to shops smelling of it to buy a packet of kingsize rizla and no one gives a shit or in my experience say "Enjoy your night"

Sorry if im getting the wrong impression, i just wanted to know if America really is that tight on drugs when your neighbour to the south recently just legalised carrying smack..which is just sick.

(Although my friend had to "pay" the cops in mexico 70 pounds for taking a piss in a bush...in a country that allows possesion of smack- crazy world)

So tell me, is America obsessed with a war on drugs?

Its more an issue of america's war on personal freedoms than a war on drugs IMO. I could get into this in great detail, however I'm on my way out the door, so maybe later.

 

i wanted to buy a lighter one time from this indian guy at a gas station and hes like 'no, no, no, you no buy, must be 18.' i was like what the fuck man its a lighter

 

yup..its fucking retarded...we have a few of those here in my town..but the ones stoners go to are the ones with fellow stoners working there..small town so everyone knows where each other works lol

 

ive seen minors buy cigs before, but i cant buy a fucking lighter? lol

 

It's ludicrous that in a country where you can buy guns, ammo, alcohol, cars, and cigarettes, you can go to jail for possesion of marijuana.

 

It's not just known drugs like marijuana and rolling papers and stuff you can't buy/own....in the WalMart in my town you have to be 18 to buy Sharpies, because they are considered inhalants, how dumb is that??? It's so overprotective it's insane

Haha, it wouldn't surprise me. They might as well ban everything until 18 because I think you could almost get some kind of high out of everything if you know what you're doing.

 

i heard from Marc Echo's web site that in NYC you have to be 18 to buy any broad tip markers. new yorks' reason for this is to prevent graffiti/tagging.
In most all places in America, persons under the age of 18 have to be on privet property or accompanied by an adult after 10:00pm-11:00pm-12:00pm(depending) in compliance with curfew laws.
There are many restriction enacted for many different reasons for people under 18. though most laws of the sort are state by state.

Marijuana is illegal for many reasons. Its extremely addictive and can give you lung cancer. 1joint=7 ciggarettes. bet u didnt kno that! Drugs shouldnt be enjoyed by anyone but expecialy children. Children who smoke have a higher risk of going insane. lighters are dangerous.

yea american politics are bullshit. you don't have a right to your own body these days. in a country that uses almost 50 percent of the world's natural recources and spews more toxic emmisions into the air then anyone, its ridiculous to be told you can't buy a pack of smokes before your 19 (yes, it is fuckign 19 in my state, not 18). you can go to war and kill people, but you can't buy skins or drink a beer...

the few times i have been to europe, its been a culture shock. in austria people were just smoking spliffs on the streets, and were puzzled why i was holding it down. then they explained to me that the most a cop will do is take it off you and MAYBE issue a small fine, but typically they'll just ask you to put it out. i found that so awesome, it was much more pleasant to be out around town stoned and not have to worry about holding.

 

Thats about right.. you can find weed easy but not real freedom .

I think you have to have real freedom before you can fight it.
