oh so you go tell me that i should not say anything about spain, but you are not even spanish yourself? *cough cough* (well at least you made a relevant post here. i give you that)
What has that got to do with anything??? Listen, little girl, stop looking for a fight. Us normal people have better things to do...we have lives.
Beso is just a kiss. Besito is more of a cutsey/ endearing way of saying it. Literally it means "little kiss". Muchas gracias is also the standard way of saying thank you very much, which muchisimas gracias would be like saying thank you VERY VERY VERY VERY much. The best way I know how to learn is to get yourself enrolled in a class. I haven't had much luck trying to teach myself Portuguese through online and books and I already speak 2 Romance languages to some degree. It'd be a lot harder and take a ton of discipline to learn another language if you don't already speak another language. Most community colleges offer Spanish courses if you can afford them, but they're pretty cheap and worth every cent you pay for it. If you're still in school, then definitely get in on some classes. I've also heard of some community centers offering free classes. Whatever you do, you have to make it a routine to study it every day. It won't come easily or fast either. You've just got to push through it and you'll be amazed at how far you come.
Thank you so much! You got exactly right when you said it takes alot of discipline- that's my biggest problem!! Anyway, thank you so much for your help and advice! Muchisimas gracias hehe!
well, i´d say that the BEST way to learn another language is to totally immerse yourself in it - basically, go live there for at least a few months. now, that´s not always easy to do either, but you can still try your best to immerse yourself. yes, get enrolled in a class or something, but also start listening to all the spanish music you can get ahold of. try random things - some will suck, some will be awesome (*cough* manu chao *cough*). also get a subscription to a magazine that you´re pretty familiar with, but get it in spanish. a lot of magazines have a spanish version, too. I used to get "People en español" back when i was first learning. i would never read it in english because it´s trash, but in spanish, it was all about latin american/south american/spanish/etc. celebrities and things specific to THEIR cultures. it wasnt just the english version translated in to spanish. just start reading everything you can and rely on the context - not a dictionary (if you can help it) - to get you through it. try to watch spanish TV and spanish movies. expose yourself to as much spanish as you can. the internet is a HUGE resource. www.wordreference.com is fantastic. they even have forums where you can ask more specific questions about something www.verbix.com is great for verb conjugations, too sign up for this email thing, too: http://www.spanishwordoftheday.com/ it´s pretty cool and has stuff for all skill levels
