Ok , so Im in my kitchen Baking some quick blueberry muffins for my husband,, and I shouldve made em from scratch , but i didnt have the money,,, So I look at the box and there it is,,, Not only is there Beef Fat in the mix,,, But there LArd too,,,,, WTF ,,, Can't even make muffins without nasty bullsh*t in it,,, Im pretty damned steamed,, What purpose does putting beef fat and lard into muffins have>>> ???? Its just sick
Unfortunately, now that trans fats have to be listed on the label, you will probably start seeing more of this. Lard and beef fat do not have to be hydrogenated.
we are wired to crave fat. It looks like you are shopping at an affiliated type store (IGA)? I learned they were MUCH more likely to have such ingredients.
Theres only one grocery store near us and its called warehouse market,,, Theres barely anything in there that vegetarian,,, and their produce section is absolutely disgusting,,, Everything is rotting and brown,,, Its just nasty,, I cant wait to get out of here,,
Make em from scratch is safest. Hard for somethings or people, but muffins, usually not that hard. Get Laurels Cookbook, if thats still in print. Fantastic!
So does that make em better for ya, you know covering more of the food groups, fruit, meat and grains all in one muffin.
There's no meat in a muffin, or in anything vegetarian, but yes. it makes them better. I dont recall saying all food groups are in one muffin. Almost forgot in my last post, Laurels cookbook is great BUT the author does use eggs. Its so second nature to me now, how to modify recipes, I forgot. All ya have to do is buy some jolly joan egg replacer if you want to go that route. I use yogurt to replace eggs.
And the funny thing is,,, the muffins with the beef aft and lard are cheaper than without it,,,, How does that make sense at all,,,, You add extra crap to the food and the price goes down,,, what the hell??
I know, its crazy. If you want something healthy, want them to leave crap out, you have to pay more even tho you want them to omit things. Its all part of the big machine - corporate management.
yep, the byproducts of slaughter are cheaper on the commodity market than plant products. How far to Tulsa? There's a great shop called Akin's (No T, 'twas a great confusion as that dammned "DIEt came along) Also a Wild Oats, I believe. And look up farmers' markets. you have property? grow your own.
