Hi, I'm an expatriate in Japan, an old hippie who took many trips in earlier years. Had all the influences of the Sixties generation. Got court-martialed for refusing to fight in Nam, and spent some time in a military brig. Went to Afghanistan and India in the seventies. Wanted to be a writer like Kerouac, Kesey, Hesse, et al. Ended up in Japan in 1983. Been working on a project for years and just finished it: a novel called "Autumn Shadows in August." Can't really categorize it other than saying it's an hallucinogenic mid-life crisis/adventure, and homage to Malcolm Lowry and Hermann Hesse. Also, about a third of the story takes place in Amsterdam with the main character on a mushroom retrospective.
You can listen to the podcast for free at http://norris.podOmatic.com
The book is available at Amazon, but cheaper at http://www.lulu.com/robertnorris

Thanks for letting me share. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone gives.

We would also appreciate if you joined in some of the threads of this community and commented on some of the work the kids here have posted, rather than spamming the hipforum. Alternatively, feel free to post some samples of your writing, instead of links to it.

Will do. Thanks for the advice. I just posted a pretty long story (1,500 words) on the Mind Trips/Psychedelics/LSD thread. It's about the first time I took acid while in a military prison back in 1970. I'll offer comments to the younger members when I can. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that was very good advice, White Scorpion. Normally this would be considered spam, but he's only made one post, and if he posts up excerpts he can again add his links as it's in context with the thread.

So yes we encourage ppl to join the forums and the community, then they can share their talents with us, rather than just coming here to plug something.

Shadows, thanks for your story. I hope I get a chance to read it. How about posting a link to the story so these two threads are linked?

Thanks for posting. The link to the "military prison acid experience" story is

I also have a question. Despite having posted 4-5 times, the stats show me having posted just once. Is there some little bug, or will that number stay at "1" until posting a certain number of times? Same thing on this thread. I noticed "1 reply" was listed before opening the thread, but actually Skip and White Scorpion make two. Just wondering.
