If you encounter one of those warmongers whining about how "we" (funny how "we" means "someone else" nowadays) should go to war with Iran, toss them a few questions. Not to teach them anything, but just to make them realize what an IDIOT they are when they render an opinion about a nation they know nothing about. A few possible examples: What was the name of Iran until modern times? Name the seven (technically eight) countries that border Iran. How large is Iran in terms of Area? (e.g. "about the size of Ohio? Ohio and Indiana combined? etc.) What is the most commonly-spoken language in Iran? Who is the President of Iran? What nation is, by far, Iran's closest business partner? How many nuclear weapons is Iran believed to hold in its arsonal? What is Iran's largest city, and its approximate population? In what year was Iran's elected leader "taken out" by US-directed forces and replaced with a dictator? What is the most popular television program in Iran? Your typical pro-war person won't be able to give an answer to any of these without going off to do research. That fact alone is truly appalling. I'll post the answers below.

The Iranians had a lot of pro-American sympathies after 9/11 until our wise-ass leader GW Bush demonized them as part of the 'axis of evil'-if there really is an 'axis', GWB is right at the center of it.
I doubt anyone could give you the answers to these questions off of the top of their heads. I'm sure there are plenty of Iranians who couldn't give you these answers off of the top of their heads.

I knew all of those aside from the TV question, and I still feel it has little relevance to how we deal with Tehran's emerging nuclear power. They have admited to having successfully refined uranium, that is not a decade away from the abllity to create nuclear weapons. Sorry. Moreover, I assume your average hawk and dove on the street know very little about Persian histroy, Aryan history or the Iranian revolution.
Iran is a cognate of Aryan. They are not related genetically to Arabs, they are half white half semitic generally. Always had a different religion, and different language. Being Indo-European instead of proto-semitic origin. They consider themselves white, as do I. They are not semitic like Arabs or Middle Eastern looking Jews.
I'm a political science major. SunLion is the only one who's admitted their need to brush up on Iranian history. One who can't be bothered to punctuate shouldn't be so quick to judge.
