Damn! Anyone seen this flick. Ebert said, "this is one of the best movies you will ever see." He's right. This movie rocked my world! I even watched the whole documentary on the DVD afterwards.
i love this movie! i felt like i was watching a documentary instead of a scripted film. not only is the story poignant and mind blowing, but the acting is phenomenal! a quick plot overview is that it takes place in the ghetto rio di janero (i apologize if i mispelled that, i'm a notoriously bad speller) and is told through the eyes of a teen trying to get out of the ghetto. the story is about what he sees on the street drug scene. i could go on and on about this powerful film, but you should really just see it for yourself. hands down one of the best films i've ever seen and one of the most deserving of the oscars it won.
Yeah, it really makes you take a step back and think about the way society works. In the bonus documentary, a cop poses the question of whether there is any real interest in a truly "just" system of law enforcement. It's a scary question. He also comes right out and says that the first step in solving the problem is to shut down combat weapons manufacturers like Colt in the US and the one in Switzerland that makes the Sigs. Says he would shut them down himself if he could. I wonder what Charlton Heston would have to say about that.
Yes, I've seen this movie! I was so shocked afterwards, I was disgusted about the part when the young kid has been shot down in his leg! That movie made me realize (although I already knew) it's not common to be wealthy and rich. Now I'm more thankful for the way I can live in the Northern part of the world, but I got also more respect for those who have to live under circumstances like hell on the other side of the world. A movie everyone should see!
crimen del padre amaro (the crimes of father Amaro) and amores perros Both a lot better than City of God!
the movie was ok but it was kind of a downer. My brother bought the soundtrack because of Iris by the Googoodolls (the main song) but it was the only good song on the damn CD.
__Excellent movie, especially because it really accomplishes the job of pulling you in to this world that God has apparently forgotten, showing that everything is not peaches & cream.
