Is anyone going to see this previously unreleased movie? It is starring the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, and other great musicians, as they travel across Canada in a passenger train on a 6 show tour that took one week in 1970. Pigpen was still alive and with the Grateful Dead. Janis had 2 months before her brief visit to our mother Earth was cut tragically short. The film was made from 75 hours of video footage kept in the Canadian Archives till recently when it was recovered for the production of this film. 'It was a trainful of insane people careening across the Canadian countryside making music night and day...occasionally we'd get off the train and go play a concert' - Phil Lesh In 1970 an eclectic group of musicians boarded the Festival Express. Their historic tour has never been seen until now. Festival Express Jambase's write up of this film A personal letter to you from Bob Weir in regard to the GSInstitute and Festival Express. Lucky you! I'll have to wait till August 27 to see it in Ft Lauderdale. I can't wait to see Janis and Jerry together! I might shoot up to NY to catch a few of the east coast shows so maybe I'll catch it early up there.
So...it opened Friday in SanFran...I guess nobody here's seen it yet. Jerry and Janice together should be great.
Damn, nobody has seen this movie yet?? It has Jerry and Janis singing together in it hmmph, go figure...if I was in ess eff I know I would have.
