i would like to know your top 2 favorite hippie bands and give reasons why. I'll go first. The Grateful Dead - They have such a wide variety of music there is something to listen to at any time. they are also probably the greatest jamming band of all time. Garcia has great guitar playing skills. In there psy era 1967-70 i would say they put out some of the best jamming i have ever heard. Jimi Hendrix - he could do things that no other had done before. i think of him as the BEST guitar player to walk the earth. The music that the jimi hendrix expierence made is unbelievable. To bad we lost him early. ~ www.freewebs.com/smbsjr I can't live that negative way, make way for a positive day~
The Beatles - Cause they were the freakin beatles The Grateful Dead - Cause they were the freakin grateful dead
Grateful Dead overrated BLAH - better recognize son, without them you wouldn't have any hippie "movement" or "influence". Perhaps if you were older you'd understand. Oh really quick lol, twisting your hair to make it all stick together does not make dreads. /sigh
I will go for The Beatles and either Janis Joplin/Hendrix Reasoning- because they inspire peace inside me
grateful dead because ive been listening to them since before i was born and bob dylan because its bob dylan
lmao was that directed at me??? i dont even do that, and besides i dont want dreads... thats just how my hair is... you have a pretty lousy attitude for an old man.... dont get so attached to your feelings, let go sometimes.
he wasnt talking to u man look at the pic of the person like one two or three spots bellow u(but it hought the same at first) what do mean by hippy band? ill take it as bands made up in the sixties. under that category it would have to be the dead and country joe and the fish the dead because their jsut that great and country joe and the fish because they have pretty political songs and its very easy to tell who they are attacking and the message they are trying to send
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - The culmination of the hip movement all in one band. The guys came from the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and the Hollies. They even played at Woodstock (minus Neil Young). The Beatles were pretty inspiring to the people back then, too.. so I'd have to rank them up there as 1st or 2nd.
The Doors,Jimi,Jefferson Airplane and I think Creedence Clearwater Revival is hippy too. "One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small. And the ones that Mother gives you don't do anything at all."
Rediculus question since the list is so extensive not just = Doors, Hendrix,Led, and the god dam Greatful Dead who few care for in those very early days.
Just bc your were a band does not make you Hippie. There were tons of bands. They dressed the part bc it was what sold records. It's the Soul of what was played that was Hip, Hip meaning in the know'. The Dead was Hippie as was Janis. They lived the Hippie Lifestyle. They lived in The Haight and Janis had a 'cabin' at Wheelers and one over at Olema. From what I saw, most of it turn commercial and it was the money and not the music to a lot of the so called hippie bands. Just bc you play Hippie music did not make you Hippie. When I think of Hippie Bands, I think of sitting around the Fire Ring and jamming with whatever instruments you could come up with.. passing a doob or a bottle of the good stuff. With everyone singing and laughing together like a loving family. Like when it all started.. small groups of people sitting around picking and grinning as they plucked the strings of the guitar and pounding out a beat on the Tom Toms. Flutes playing, people dancing, everyones eyes shinning with love, joy and brotherhood. That's the true Hippie Band.. Brightest Blessings sh
