I wasn't sure where to post this. This seems like the best place. I'm getting ready to throw down some cash on a decent camera. It has to be digital, it has to be pretty high resolution, and it has to have good optical zoom capability. Preferably, I'd like to be able to use interchangable lenses. I love photography, but I don't really know that much about the equipment. Who can help me out?
I'm not sure if you want digital or film. But either way I believe SLR cameras are the kind that change the lenses. Personally I prefer film, but digital is convenient. I also like Cannon camera, I've always seemed to achieve good pictures with these. Hope this helps
Just a note...if you are looking for a good camera to do some serious photo's...whatever kind you get, just be sure to get a high mp camera. I wouldn't go below 4 megapixels. Check out Minolta's new stuff, they have a higher quality high end line than Cannon.
Thanks, dude. I have actually been looking at Canon's line. We just got one at my work, too, so i got to play with it a little. I was surprised to see that the viewfinder had a digital screen in it. I'll check out Minolta, too. This one here has my attention at the moment: It's their digital rebel.
If that's a picture if you, then you are very effeminate. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm guessing from your sig that you are a band type. My sister was in Phantom Regiment for 4 years, won a national title. She still teaches color guard.
Hey Actually the girl in my sig is my girlfriend. And yes, I am also a band type person. I'm trying to start a forum for all those marching people..;-). Congrats to your sister, I like the Phantom Regiment a lot.
Just went to a DCI show last Tuesday in Centerville OH. Saw the Scouts, the Blue Devils, the Glassmen, and the Cadets. (no Phantom ) I really liked the Blue Devils show. They have a couple of soloists who are just ridiculous, and I liked their music, even though I can't remember what it was. Centerville has a band who is a regular at BOA. They were considered favorites by some last year, but were bitterly disappointed when they missed the finals by a tenth of a point. I'll never forget the look on my sisters face. They were redeemed somewhat, however, at WGI when the guard won the whole thing. Yay Robin!
Hey, I heard the Blue Devils had a great show that day. Agreed, some of the soloists are unbelievable. Eww...that really would be harsh on anyone... .1 of a point..ouch. But at least they took it back through WGI. I personally like WGI better the DCI. I enjoy guard and drumline more the drumline and brass.
My son loves the drums. I'm a sucker for horns. I love it when the whole line sneaks up close, turns around, and blasts you out of your seat. It gives me chills sometimes.
Drums all the way hey..;-)..hehe. I'm not sure the age of your son, but our drumlines site is at http://ehs-drumline.cmonline.bounceme.net I'm hoping to get some more soundclips up soon. That is a great effect you mentioned too.
I recommend the Fuji FinePix S7000 (I just bought it and am extremely satisfied) it retails for around $700... I had another Fuji that I was really happy with, which is why I chose the S7000 over the Canon PowerShot G5 which is also very nice, and about the same price. Both of them allow different lense attachments, etc. The Fuji I have can capture up to 12.6 million pixels per square inch, or 12.6 megapixel. A 3.0 megapixel camera is 3 million pixels per square inch. Obviously the more pixels the better, for super high resolution and you will be able to make much larger prints. I believe the megapixel amount is one of the most important aspects, as well as having the different shooting modes available, and full shutter speed control, etc. Mine also shoots in Chrome or B&W. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The optical zoom, macro, and super macro really get small details with great results - national geographic quality shots, you can see the joints on insects as if you were looking at a magnifying glass. I took a picture of the moon, then zoomed in on the image on my computer and it was as big around as a baseball and you could clearly see many craters on it! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the comments, bro. I appreciate it. I believe the camera you bought is actually a 6mp, which is about the range I'm looking in. I read a couple of reviews which were both pretty good. That seems to be a pretty decent camera. But are you sure your lenses are interchangable. Is it just one or two? That doesn't look like it's detachable/interchangable. At this point I'm still leaning towards the rebel, but I'm thinking maybe I'll buy it without the lens kit and buy a different slightly better lens. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
Yea it says 6mp, but there is a setting to take it up to 12mp... And as far as I know, it will accept any commercial lens package, but it may need an adapter piece or something to mount them. the fuji website has more information about it.
