Anyone know how I could build one of these cheap besides getting a long kiddy pool in a closet, throwing a board over it while wearing earplugs?

Why don't you turn off the lights and sit there with earmuffs.

The tubs not big enough for submersion and theres quite a lot of light that sneaks in... And the AC drainoff drips in there... I'm considering getting those ear plugs they use in construction (Used to be a machinist so I know they work good) and locking myself in a hot tub with a cover

    helpful lot here this morning..

DL, you'll need something that regulates temp (close to body temp): how long do you want to go down in your hommeade rig?
I prefer warmer so that I get a total relaxation. (bad body thermostat)
salt water for buoyancy is important, as is controlling the light/ sound atmosphere. Most people want dark and silent, some like twilight and silent. I've heard of sense dep tanks with those trippy lights that change your brain waves.
Is there somewhere close you can go to be in one and take mental notes as you are there?

I take it you are talking about a floatation tank? I can see the desire for one as I have been in mud-baths and floated all around like a crocodile. [IMG]

For a cheap thermostat you might find one from an oven at the tip. The temperature will just be a few degrees off zero but it should work. If it does not work, open the cover of the thermostat and spray in some switch cleaner (You may have to shop around for this stuff, try Radio Shack) on to the two contact points.

In Winter time, some evenings I turn all the lights off in the house and lie on the bed and just listen to silence for maybe an hour. This is the upside of living by yourself, you can do what you want in your own house.

Perhaps you'll get better advice asking people who make those said tanks?

If you have a good idea of how its made, you can improvise then hit the DIY boards instead of here.

Good luck. Want to try one myself-heard they are fantastic.

Well I've gotten sensory dep before. And its pretty cool. Got locked in a trunk on acid.... Climbing in seemed like a good idea at the time... 2 hours later my friends opened it up because I kept banging. 15 minutes later I realized I was still in the trunk. They found me after a while:
    Travis "Where did will go"
Josh "I dunno... I havent seen him since we got here"
Phone rings (I managed to remember that my phone did NOT really fly away)
    Travis "Hello?"
Me "You son of a bitch! Help me!"
