Anybody use an ozone generator? Do they work? Can they be harmfull to my plants? At present I use an extractor fan and a ionizer with built in HEP filter. This deals with most of the smell but ive read ozone generaters are the best method. My growing space is basically a closet 3'*3'*7'. Any info would be appreciated.
I been using a setup like yours without the filter part seems to work fine. the difference between ion and ozone generator is number of plants, more plants need more co2
Im confused to. Ozone generators supposedly put an extra oxygen molecule in the air making o3 this extra molecule then clings to odours. This is what I read anyhow. But it also says ozone can be harmful. Plus does it really work?
Co2 has nothing to do with odor, it's what plants breathe in only to exhale oxygen. Therefore many plants in a small space...even venting doesn't replace depleted Co2 fast enough. As for ion gens. adding an electron changes polarization of air, which dust and odor particals stick to and reportedly fall to the floor. I don't know how one could tell how much ionisation is needed for a given room
Okay we're talking about ozone generators, not co2 setups. Maybe I'm just missing the connection... or maybe you're just babbling lol
Sorry, I once stayed at the Tower or babble, it must have rubbed off. From what I understand ozone gens. create small amounts of or help plants use Co2 better, I need to go back and find where I read that and post it. Anyhow as far as I've read they won't hurt and probably help. Whether they're cost effective......???????
heh, when I used to smoke I lived in the tower of babel at all times. Could be, never really heard of it but nobody knows it all. If you find a link post it. As far as odor control, carbon scrubbers > *
"If I Follow Manufacturers' Directions, Can I be Harmed?" "Results of some controlled studies show that concentrations of ozone considerably higher than these standards are possible even when a user follows the manufacturer’s operating instructions. There are many brands and models of ozone generators on the market. They vary in the amount of ozone they can produce. In many circumstances, the use of an ozone generator may not result in ozone concentrations that exceed public health standards. But many factors affect the indoor concentration of ozone so that under some conditions ozone concentrations may exceed public health standards." Like CO and CO2, Ozone is a gas and can be toxic when concentrated too heavily. Be careful if you use an ozonator, you should also have a ozone detector.
"Ozone is a molecule composed of three atoms of oxygen. Two atoms of oxygen form the basic oxygen molecule--the oxygen we breathe that is essential to life. The third oxygen atom can detach from the ozone molecule, and re-attach to molecules of other substances, thereby altering their chemical composition. It is this ability to react with other substances that forms the basis of manufacturers’ claims."
An ionizer physically alters molecules in the air by using negative ion discharge, which bonds to molecules in the air, converting the molecules into ions also.
http://www.1stmarijuanagrowerspage.com/how-to-grow-marijuana-3.html This guide has a section that 'xplains ozone generators better'n I can.
If I were to use an ozone generator, I would prefer to have it working only when I am not around, like at night of course and during the time I am at work. A timer could take care of that. But obviously, it could not be the only odor control system, in this manner it would stink up the place when I turn it off to go in. Might help reduce wear on the carbon thought!
